This limited edition print by Joe David is titled "Spindle Whirl". Spindle whorls were used with a shaft for spinning plant and animal fibers into yarn for weaving blankets.
The designs were such that different patterns seemed to appear as the person spun the whorl while processing the yarn.
Joe David's print designs are amoung the best from the Northwest Coast. His elegant and flowing designs depict traditional Nuu-chah-nulth 2 dimensional artwork.
